21 Years Ago Today

We walked (Carl hobbled, he had an undiagnosed broken kneecap) to the top of Pier 66 on the Seattle waterfront. We sat and waited. Joined by several others on the roof, thousands of others scattered at varying vantage points, and a plethora of boats in Elliott Bay.

The occasion was the implosion of the Kingdome.

Every year on this date we have a Kingdome meatloaf. (Turkey meatloaf, not my Father’s specialty brown sugar meatloaf.) One year, I think maybe the 10-year anniversary, we made a souffle that was supposed to implode. It did not. 10 year anniversary blog

Last year’s fan with this year’s meatloaf

Last year, the 20th anniversary, was also the Mariner’s opening day. We had great plans. But like all things 2020, they imploded. https://raincharm.net/2020/03/26/march-26-2020/

Well, back to work for me. But I know what I am having for dinner.

21 years ago!? That makes me feel very old. I saw some professional sports games and Led Zeppelin at the King Dome.

Coincidentally, they were just playing a Led Zeppelin cut on KEXP,  which was followed by Black Sabbath… they do wander the genres, which is one reason we listen.

I don’t think we went to any concerts in the Kingdome, but volleyball, soccer, football and of course baseball.
