   Glad it looks better on Carl than it did on me! I finally figured out why it ended up bigger than the pattern. My gauge was right for the number of stitches/inch, but the number of rows/inch was greater than it was supposed to be. I used the leftover yarn for a baby hat for a friend, and the gauge swatch for that hat showed the difference. It finally clicked.
