18,000

Long walk today, between lunch and dinner. In theory I could have gotten something done this evening, but I thought it would be a good idea to stop and share a beer about a mile from home. Let me just say that after 8 ounces of 8.2% beer it was good that we were walking. Fun, but not conducive to getting anything else done today.

8 ounces much

We decided to walk because the temperature was temperate. We decided on the zoo because there have been some changes and new/updated exhibits, and it has been a while since we’ve been. It’s a few miles to get in, and then we wandered about before heading home.

A nice Saturday summer afternoon. The zoo was quite busy. Many kids, and lots of different languages.

Savanna: zebra, ostrich, giraffe.     Our visit was off to a quick start.

From quite a while ago. Supporting the then new gorilla exhibit.
He seems to appreciate our support

We will return soon, perhaps on a less crowded day. It’s handy to live close.

    I loved that zoo and would enjoy going back. However, the trip in from where I live is not usually fun. I envy your closeness. I got 11,000 steps yesterday and felt good about that. I was often carrying a grandson too–weight training?

      Good for your bone density! Being in the big city does have its perks, that help make up for the downsides of big cities.
