M-O-T-H-E-R
“M” is for the million things she gave me,
“O” means only that she’s growing old,
“T” is for the tears she shed to save me,
“H” is for her heart of purest gold;
“E” is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
“R” means right, and right she’ll always be,
Put them all together, they spell “MOTHER,”
A word that means the world to me.
By Howard Johnson
Howard Johnson – I wanted it to be the restaurant, but didn’t find any link there.
But when I learned he also wrote, “I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream,” it just seemed that there should be a connection. I really seem to remember getting ice cream at Howard Johnsons.
This has always been my Mothers’ “favorite” song for the holiday. I always thought we put in the O line because we thought it was funny. But, apparently, they are the real words.
Make up your own lyrics and share with the rest of us.

Jay, I think Anne you and I all had the same idea, the song M-O-T-H-E-R. I like Anne’s the best. Very creative! As to which of the two of us were first to post, it doesn’t matter. I make an effort not to check the other blogs until I’ve posted. Same idea, same day, if you want to call scoop go for it.

I’m REALLY feeling old these days–worn out. Mothers’ Day just about did me in.
